Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements


The ICT Officer at Encyclopaedia Africana Project shall oversee the Secretariat’s interactions with the public by implementing online content strategies.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Regular website maintenance and content management
  • Generate, edit, publish and share engaging content daily across social media accounts
  • Plan and develop social media campaigns to build a community online.
  • Craft compelling social media content
  • Collaborate with the research and editorial team to ensure that social media is used to support the overall business goals.
  • Engage with stakeholders on different channels
  • Generate analytic reports and interpret data
  • Monitor and respond to comments and questions
  • Connect current news and events to service provision and delivery
  • Perform any other duties as may be required

Qualification Required & Experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Communication Studies, or a related field from a recognized university.

EXPERIENCE

  • Have 3 or more years of social media experience in planning and managing content
  • Proven track record of growing and retaining social media audiences

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience with web design and publishing
  • A grasp of the latest SEO best practices, website security, and an eye for design
  • Have excellent writing, editing, presentation, and communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of best practices for social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, etc.
  • Experience with all current Adobe Creative Suite applications including InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro and other relevant programs and technologies
  • Proven ability and experience in the production of online video content
  • Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
  • Great interpersonal, presentation and communication skills
