Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements
Green Energy Ghana, is seeking for Compost Production Manager to oversee production, and operations, at its composting department and to manage policies and procedures for the compost program to ensure optimal functioning and continuous operation. The responsibilities include compost management, ensuring compost system uptime, and projects related to expansion. Support and train the composting staff in a manner that creates engagement and productivity within the team.
Role and Responsibilities
- Contribute to the vision, mission and strategy development for all current and future composting operations
- Responsible for ensuring compost facility’s permits and compliance with the Environmental Management Act (EPA) and Organic Matter Recycling Regulation (PPRSD)
- Collaborate with senior leadership to create composting processes and policies, aligned with GEGs business goals
- Ensure key performance indicators for the department are met and develop best practices to maximize potential.
- Manage compost budget and ensure appropriate cost control is in place
- Address any issues about composting or organic waste management as well as the health and safety of employees
- Ensure that all workers adhere to policies & procedures
- Foster a culture of continual improvement and profitability
- Foster a culture of respect and collaborative teamwork
- Perform any other duties that may be assigned as required

Required Skills or Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a composting leadership role in a medium-sized facility, preferably in a similar processing technical field, binding skill certificate or equivalent experience.
- Knowledge of the Environmental Management Act [EPA] will be a plus.
- Strong waste processing and/or agricultural background to support composting activities.
- Knowledge of how to apply Lean Manufacturing, Total Productive Maintenance [TPM] and Overall Equipment Effectiveness [OEE] to waste management approaches is considered an asset.
- You may be assigned other duties and tasks as well and this position must be able to meet the minimum demand as listed below;
Physical Demands
- Always required to speak and comprehend English / Dutch or other
- Always required to sit, stand or walk.
- Always required to see with or without corrective lenses.
- Frequently required to lift, up to 30 kg; occasionally required to lift, up to 50kg.
- Occasionally required to balance, stoop or squat.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Ability to work with a high degree of independence and autonomy
- Knowledge of compost planning and system implementation
- Ability to create, and maintain a high-performance workplace culture through employee lifecycle
- Knowledge of organic waste management practices within a compost processing plant
- Understanding of compost equipment, technologies and limitations and their effect on safety, quality, and productivity
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Working knowledge of Enterprise / Industrial Resource Planning systems
- Working knowledge of quality assurance and good processing practices
- Scheduling & employee management
- Organic fertilizer production experience is considered an asset
