About the team:
The Project Coordinator, reporting directly to the WASH for Climate Program Manager, is a crucial member of the Climate Resilience WASH Team within WaterAid Ghana’s Sustainable Services Programmes Department (SPD). This department provides strategic and technical guidance to fulfil WAG’s program objectives. The coordinator’s responsibilities span across project design, delivery, risk mitigation, and grant management, all grounded in WaterAid’s commitment to program quality principles, adherence to donor guidelines, and best practices in the sector.

About the role:
The Project Coordinator role is central to achieving WaterAid Ghana’s (WAG) strategic objectives within the WASH and climate Program. This position is designed to bridge the gap between project aspirations and tangible outcomes, focusing on enhancing Climate resilient water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) in the Upper East Region.
The job exists to lead, coordinate, and ensure the seamless execution of activities, aligning with national policies and WAG’s mission to improve community resilience through sustainable WASH solutions. The role fosters partnerships, manage resources, and oversee project implementation. his role not only ensures projects meet their intended performance targets but also contributes to the broader Climate Resilient WASH Program to deliver high-quality WASH services.
You’ll also,
- Offer dynamic leadership and technical guidance to staff and partners to enhance project implementation and collaboration.
- Lead project execution, ensuring it aligns with work scopes and fosters cooperation within the assigned project team.
- Guarantee the high-quality and efficient execution of project activities, following directives from senior program and technical advisors.
- Work with the PME Manager to establish and maintain effective MEAL systems, ensuring data collection, reporting and use align with WA standards and donor expectations.
- Champion the documentation and sharing of project learnings in partnership with the Ghana Water Resource Commission, EPA, MSWR and sub-national partners.
- Represent the project across various forums and stakeholders at all levels, enhancing project visibility and partnerships.
- Spearhead networking with Climate and WASH sector actors within the project’s geographic area.
- Ensure the secure and efficient management of project resources, including equipment and documents.
- Oversee the judicious use of human and financial resources to meet project goals.
- Serve as an effective liaison with the Ghana Water Resource Commission and EPA, ensuring smooth communication and reporting at regional and district levels.
About you:
Essential skills
- Possession of a Master’s Degree in climate change, environmental studies, WASH, Development Studies, water resource management, or a related discipline.
- At least 5 years of increasing supervisory responsibility and technical experience in Climate Resilient WASH programming.
- At least 2 years of experience in the development, management, and evaluation of projects, preferably within the WASH domain, at a supervisory capacity.
- Demonstrated knowledge on the Institutions, Regulatory and Policy framework for WASH in Ghana.
- Proven experience in enhancing WASH systems, including developing sustainable service delivery and behaviour change models, and strengthening the capacity of service providers.
- Expertise in crafting and leading training sessions on WASH, Climate resilient WASH, system strengthening and hygiene behaviour change.
- Proven skills in budgeting, budget management, and participatory consortium or partnership management.
- Excellent oral and written communication abilities, cultural sensitivity, and a commitment to organizational values, complemented by strong computer literacy.
