Job Description
- Department: Quality Assurance
- Reports To: QA Manager
- Location Onsite at HPW Fresh and Dry Ltd, Adeiso, E/R.
Responsibilities and Duties
Leadership
- Timely communicates non-conforming processes and products to the QAM, sourcing team and production
Doing /Organizing
- Ensure fruits from intake meets quality specification for processing in terms of maturity (colour and translucency), ripeness (brix) and are defect free.
- Develop systems to reduce the number of defective products generated at processing but to ensure first time quality is met and complete duly defect control forms.
- Ensure traceability is maintained throughout the production process
- Ensure personal hygiene and food hygiene requirements are met by personnel in this area including equipment’s before start-up and during work in the processing area and spreading area.

- Report all incidents relating to food safety and quality immediately to the QAM.
- Complete the daily plaster control checks, quality control monitoring board, customer complaint board and all quality control charts for the packing area
- Organize and train/coach production personnel to process/pack fruits per customer specification (i.e. of specified size, colour, moisture etc.)
- Ensure personal hygiene and food hygiene requirements are met by personnel in this area and equipment’s before start-up and during work.
- In-charge of hygiene and sanitation. This includes daily facility hygiene inspections and sanitation checks
- Reviewing of SSOP’s for effectiveness
- Generating of monthly reports on sanitation
Checking
- You are to ensure that all documents relating to bulk production completed in time and in full daily
- Weighing scales are verified and or calibrated
- In-charge of hygiene and sanitation. This includes:
Daily facility hygiene inspections and sanitation checks
Reviewing of SSOP’s for effectiveness
Generating of monthly reports on sanitation
Report all incidents relating to food safety and quality immediately to the QAM
Actions/Reaction and Correction
- Hold and report all non-conforming products to QAM and sourcing team.
Communication and Reporting
- Use all communication tools provided to communicate issue. CAR, Email, phone calls, WhatsApp etc.
- Complete all reports and send daily. (e.g. colour report, pallet sheet reports etc)
- If there is an issue and you have exhausted all communication challenges with your manager and the problem is not resolved, write an email to the MD, and copy or revert managers.
Additional Tasks
- Assist QA Bulk officers in monitoring and implement procedures/SOPs on the production floor
Departmental
- Maintains contact with departmental heads as well as QA compliance officers
Equipment/Tools to be used
- Refractometers, Vernier calipers, Infrared thermometers, Rulers, Standard Weights, Tablets etc

Required Skills or Experience
Education
- Minimum of bachelor’s degree, HND or its equivalent in science related field
- Knowledge in food science, Biochemistry, Chemistry, Laboratory technology etc.
Competencies (Technical, Personality & Supervisory), Knowledge, skills and abilities.
- Knowledge in standards: BRC, IFS, GSA
- Knowledge of Auditing concepts and principles
- Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
- Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams and to interreact with a positive attitude but insistence and single-mindedness
- Ability to plan and organize work with less supervision
- Ability to persuade and influence others
