JOB TITLE: Senior Metering Technician
Ghana – KNK FPSO
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure weekly metering maintenance allocated, is executed to plan
- Manage the Crude Oil Export Metering Package to ensure that:
- All proving and re-calibrations are performed to API MPMS standards: UK Oil & Gas National Code for Measurement of Hydrocarbon Fluids and recommendations of manufacturers of equipment.

- Maintain all documentation associated with fiscal metering.
- Ownership of 3rd Party metering management software (MMS), ensuring that any issues are resolved and communicated back to onshore metering
- Carry out regular proving runs to maintain accuracy of steam instrumentation.
- Recalibration and recertification of Instrumentation relating to pressure, temperature transmitter and gauges, on-line quality analysers and all other associated instrumentation to be against CMMS and data recorded in a clear audit friendly system
- Analysis of calibration activities and performance
- Identify deficiencies within the operational procedures regarding measurement systems
- Support external audits by Employer and Government teams
- Provide and archive all metering data derived from stream metering, prover runs and master prover operations
- Supply fiscal metering data of oil exported from the FPSO
- Supply fiscal export quantities of oil exported in metre cubed and barrels per day
- Ensure flow computer data is not corrupted and securely protected
- Ability to perform internal system audits to ensure compliance with relevant standards
- Work with the E&I Planner and Scheduler to ensure that maintenance routines are accurate and justified
- Experienced in the review of Single Line Diagrams and P & ID’s
- Be familiar with the CMMS (Maximo)
- Assist in the appraisal and updating of preventative maintenance routines in CMMS as applicable
- Assist in the review of critical metering spares holdings
- To be fully conversant with the technical documentation available from E & C contractor pertaining to metering plant and equipment
- Ensure that all metering technical documentation required for meter proving and equipment maintenance is available or resourced through OEM’s or vendors
- Be conversant with project delivery imperatives and support attainment
- Provide answers to technical queries related to metering
- Monitor metering equipment performance and assist in improving performance
- Monitor and advise on metering equipment certification validities and rotational requirements related to recertification to ensure there are no gaps in their validity. Ensure awareness of the project contract pertaining to metering
- Supports the Instrumentation department with corrective and preventative maintenance work activities. To include troubleshooting, repair, replacement, and tuning of field instruments such as GC’s, analyzers, PI & TI transmitters, and control valves.
- Carry out HSE and technical audits and inspections as directed.
- Have an awareness of the Company Code of Conduct and Business Ethics.
- Support local national training as directed.
- Ability to attend the Accra office to support onshore teams
- Ability to support improvement projects, via participation in scoping, management of change, testing, commissioning, and project close out.
- Proving experience in the maintenance of Metering equipment, and proven record of ability to calibrate instrumentation associated with Metering Systems.
- Strong HSE awareness in the following areas:
- Risk recognition/risk awareness
- Permits to Work, Toolbox Talks & Checklists
- HV/LV hazards and isolation procedures
- Telecom equipment isolation procedures
- Confined space entry procedure
- Criticality of Gas Testing, method and frequency
- Awareness of N2 hazards
- Manual handling techniques
- Man overboard procedures
- Correct use of, PPE
- Simultaneous Operations hazards
- Dropped objects & trip hazard mitigation
- Working at height
Essential Qualifications And Skills
- 10+ years’ experience in Petrochemical or Oil and Gas projects/operations on a major project
- HNC or ONC in a relevant Engineering Discipline
- Certification in fiscal metering
- Proven field experience in maintaining a fiscal metering skid
- Good diverse skills with experience working with a multinational workforce
- Previous experience in Instrumentation or electrical discipline.
- Good communication and analytical skills
- Awareness and Compliance with Ghanaian Petroleum Commission Guidelines; relevant Pipeline Commercial Agreements and Regulations
- Awareness of MESTI environmental regulations
- Advanced Working knowledge of all relevant IP, API, AGA, BS, ISO standards & codes of practice
