Job Description
A vacancy exists in our Exploration Department for the position of SENIOR EXPLORATION GEOLOGIST
JOB PURPOSE
To supervise moderately complex geological activities related to greenfields and brownfields exploration and play active hands-on field-based role, with guidance from systems that deliver optimal evaluation and development of potential resources on the Mine.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and supervise field crew to achieve exploration programs and performance targets;
- Participate in the development and updating of 3D geological models and liaise with the Resource Geologist to make input into resource models;
- Supervise the implementation of early-stage resource growth and brownfields exploration strategies;
- Assess and interpret all available data sets and actively participates in ranking exploration targets and opportunities;
- Implement exploration programs, such as mapping, drill rig management, core logging, management of field logistics, collection of geological data, evaluation of results, etc;
- Ensure geology staff are properly trained in all applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure these standards are maintained and achieved through field job observations;
- Ensure optimal drilling schedule is maintained and delivered to achieve the set targets within the agreed timelines;
- Ensure compliance with all relevant national laws and regulations such as environmental, health & safety standards, labor laws, by working with management to prevent non-compliance tendencies as well as address issues that may occur;
- Perform any other related duties that may be assigned by the supervisor.

Required Skills or Experience
Knowledge
- Must have a minimum of a Degree in the Geosciences or related discipline from a recognized institution;
- Must have a minimum of five (5) years’ post qualification work experience preferably in gold mineralization in greenstone belts with demonstrable leadership competencies;
- Sound knowledge and understanding of geological principles and legislative requirements;
- Strong computer literacy skills in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook);
- Willingness and ability to perform field work in an extreme mining environment;
- Must be results and action-oriented person;
- Must have a valid Ghanaian Driver’s license, with a minimum of five (5) years driving experience, and ability to drive in rough terrains;

- Must be self-confident and demonstrate good supervisory competencies to build an effective and motivated team;
- Results-oriented drive and solid work ethics, with exceptional attention for detail;
- Ability to train and mentor team members and demonstrate safety leadership;
- Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills;
