Job Description
Reporting To: Maintenance Supervisor
Job Purpose
Under general supervision, the purpose of this role is to ensure general upkeep of the hotels electrical system. repair, maintain, install and monitor electrical equipment throughout the hotel and respond to all electrical related emergency calls.
Additionally, you are required to perform routine electrical maintenance checks, respond to faults and wiring issues, and install major electrical appliances in all the hotel-designated areas.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assemble and install electrical wiring, fixtures in buildings and designated places
- Install conduits and pipes to house electrical wires and cables whilst ensuring piping complies with electrical codes
- Install circuit breakers and other electrical hardware and connects wiring to them.
- inspect the premises regularly, conduct routine maintenance, perform repairs, and fix faulty wiring when necessary.

- Install electrical appliances in rooms or function areas along with microphone and lighting systems as maybe requested.
- Conduct routine inspection tours to ensure that electrical equipment and lighting is working properly.
- Test electrical systems with oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and ohmmeters.
- Testing of electrical systems with oscilloscopes, voltmeters, and ohmmeters and Review blueprints to understand wiring placement.
- Determine sources of electrical malfunctions and complete repairs as indicated or according to work orders.
- Estimate materials and supplies needed for installation purposes and submit to supervisor for requisition.
- Ensure maintenance and repair works are completed correctly whilst ensuring maintenance procedures and schedules are strictly adhered to.
- Maintain inventory of hotel’s electrical tools, materials and equipment.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
Others
- Perform other related duties as maybe assigned.
- Respond to emergency calls as and when needed
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, climbing, etc.
Work Relationships
- Coordinates with: All departmental heads and staff within the hotel
Required Skills or Experience
Educational Qualification and Experience
- NVTI Certificate or completion of a formal apprenticeship and valid electricians license required.
- At least 2 years of proven work experience as Maintenance Electrician
Required Skills
- Familiarity with industrial electrical systems and the National Electrical Code.
- Must be physically capable of pulling wires and cables through conduits.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and written reference material
- Solid understanding of health and safety regulations and practices.
- Prolonged periods standing, kneeling, bending, and climbing ladders or scaffolding
- Team spirit with flexibility to work on shifts, night hours, holidays, etc.
