BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The Country Strategic Plan 2024 – 2028 (CSP2.0) has been approved wherein WFP seeks to support national development priorities through four thematic pillars: Emergency Preparedness and response; Nutrition, Food Systems; Social Protection; and On-demand services and protection programmes.
To fully meet its objectives in Ghana, WFP is increasing its ‘enabler’ role by providing capacity strengthening for national institutions and supporting advocacy to improve food security and nutrition outcomes. Efforts to achieve durable zero hunger solutions are largely hinged on:
- Co-creating with the government through augmenting services like institutional capacity strengthening, policy coherence and technical support.
- Pursuing sustainable financing and optimization in the utilization of available resources.
- Gender mainstreaming layered in our evidence generation, activity designs and implementation including the selection of the modalities used to assist.
- Pursuing partnerships that seek to maximize impact taking into consideration accountability to affected populations like youth, women and people living with disabilities.
- Expanding from providing support to a finite number of people to all people living in Ghana.
The proposal writer will be under the supervision of the Country Director and will undertake the following:
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide technical advice and enhance country office capacity to engage in the areas of climate adaptation and disaster risk financing.
- Understand the thematic areas (e.g., emergency preparedness and response, nutrition, food systems and social protection) with the skill to integrate cross-cutting areas such as digitization, climate adaptation, inclusion, disability, and gender programming
- Collaborate with thematic activity managers and the budget team to develop concept notes, and technical and budget proposals promptly, based on the identified areas.
- Work with the creative content creator to develop summary presentation materials to aid advocacy efforts and/or outreach efforts.
- Assess and reflect desired objectives and feedback proposed by stakeholders to ensure alignment with the Country Strategic Plan thematic areas.
DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
- Concept notes and Proposals, for the Ghana Country Strategic Plan, are developed as required.
- Powerpoint presentations developed as applicable.
Education:
- Advanced university degree recognized by https://www.whed.net/home.php) in International Development or related fields or First University degree in the same disciplines with additional years of relevant work experience and/or training.
- Should you not find your university degree in this link kindly note that it will be your responsibility to obtain a formal letter from your Ministry of Education stating their recognition of the university and degree.

Experience:
- A minimum of eight (8) years of post-graduate professional-level experience in humanitarian development or related activities. Experience in developing concept notes and proposals for specifically fundraising purposes is mandatory.
- Experience working in a developing country is desirable. Work experience in an International Financial Institution, United Nations Agency or Government Entity is required.
Languages:
- Fluency (level C) in English Language.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Excellent writing and presentation skills, in English.
- Good computer knowledge and skills
- Ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Ability to handle any other additional tasks as requested by the supervisor
