About the Position
Inspire Action has entered a partnership with the NGO MATUMAINI on a program to fight human smuggling and trafficking; sex trafficking; and protect refugees and victims of domestic gender-based violence.
A first transitional home has been secured for the victims in the Santa Maria neighbourhood with a capacity of accommodating about 80 persons.
Inspire Action is seeking to hire an energetic, committed, and professional nurse for a full-time role to attend to the psychosocial and health needs of the victims while they are at the transitional home. This position is open only to NATIONALS OF THE REPUBLIC OF GHANA.
Responsibilities:
The incumbent will be an excellent team player, possess the required interpersonal skills, and will be able to maintain flexibility in their role. The key responsibilities are, though not limited to:
Programming:
- Perform the arrival and pre-embarkation check, treatment, documentation, and timely reporting of findings to the appropriate authorities on all arriving and departing victims.
- Arrange daily activities, and schedule health assessments including pre-test counseling for victims.
- Perform referral and follow-up of victims to specialists for consultation and/or treatment while ensuring all the patient’s records are shared in a bid to assist in proper clinical management.
- Escort patients during referral when necessary and facilitate the acquisition of legal travel documents.
- Ensure that all required observations, prescribed treatment, and procedures are properly carried out and documented on patient’s charts.
- Carry out minor surgical procedures, screening, admissions, consultation, resuscitation, and stabilization of clients in the management of clinical emergencies.
- Provide effective reproductive health services based on all pillars of safe motherhood to ensure the best maternal-child outcome if required.
- Implement community health strategy in collaboration with key stakeholders.
- Assist patients with activities of daily living while in the transitional home.
- Maintaining psychological well-being through reassurance to victims in the transitional home.
- Observe and maintain infection prevention policy daily and ensure a safe work environment.
- Maintains confidentiality of information and collaborative relationships with clients, partners, and health professionals.
- Do clinical coverage and on-call as required.

Reporting and Communication:
- Prepare a report for each victim on therapeutic procedures administered to migrants, per the requirements of resettlement countries as applicable.
- Compile and submit quarterly inventory returns/requisitions of all drugs and supplies.
- Provide individualized health education and counselling related to health maintenance and disease prevention.
- Attend continuous Medical Education.
- Prepare and submit weekly/monthly work schedules, and plan daily duties and responsibilities to ensure adequate coverage.
- Compile and submit weekly/monthly activity reports.
- Preparing and facilitating regular health education sessions for victims at the transitional home.
- Monitor and supervise proper usage of medical supplies as well as maintain adequate supplies and buffer stock.
- Participate in health surveys/campaigns as required.
Operations:
- Maintain equipment in good condition and submit regular inventory reports of the same.
- Maintain and update key registers in the assigned area and documentation of client assessment, nursing diagnosis, and outcomes while ensuring the confidentiality of records.
- Ensure that all referral admissions, discharges, transfers, and deaths are properly recorded as they occur and participate in respective audits.
- Report any significant changes in operations to the supervisor.
- Carry out any other additional duties relevant to the job description as may be assigned by the supervisor.
Required Skills or Experience
Education:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from a recognized and accredited university/institution.
- Must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Ghana and must have a valid license.
Experience:
Required
A minimum of 2 years of relevant and demonstrated experience including:
- Training and experience in TB, STDs, HIV/AIDS counselling, and other communicable diseases.
- Handling and following up on medical documents.
- Supervisory experience and proven ability to work as part of a multicultural team.
- Proficiency in computer skills, especially in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access), and experience in working with databases and online applications.
- Ability to work after hours (weekends and public holidays inclusive) when emergencies arise.
- Self-starter who can identify and complete tasks with minimum supervision.

- Experience with international or non-governmental organizations, international development agencies, or working with partners such as IOM, and UNHCR is considered a strong asset.
- Working knowledge of Mimosa and other medical database systems is an advantage
Language Requirements:
- Excellent command of the English language is required;
- Working knowledge of the French language is desired but not an eliminatory criterion.
