Job Description
- Overseeing the activities of the department that deals with purchases and sourcing
- Assigning duties to each staff member and reviewing their work
- Making plans for the purchase of new equipment, services, and other supplies
- Maintaining stock levels
- Conducting research and making contracts with vendors
- Developing strategies for ordering supplies and equipment
- Communicating with suppliers to maintain business relationships
- Negotiating contracts with vendors for new purchases
- Evaluating vendors, negotiating contracts and preparing reports (e.g. on orders and costs)
- Having good knowledge of market research, along with solid analytical skills to make sure you’re identifying the most profitable offers.
Qualification Required & Experience
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and purchasing software.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills.
- Good analytical and strategic thinking skills.
- Supervisory and management experience.
- Attention to detail.
- Knowledge of vendor sourcing practices.
- Understanding of supply chain procedures.
- One to two years working experience
- HND or degree
