The CNFA is a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit organization dedicated to stimulating economic growth in the agricultural sector by encouraging entrepreneurship, private enterprise, and market connections. CNFA specializes in promoting private sector investment in training, new technologies and marketing as a means to increase the overall competitiveness of agricultural value chains, increase exports and develop the skills of the rural workforce.

The CNFA helps smallholders increase food security and nutrition at the household level through improved agricultural practices, introduction of new varieties, diversification of crop production, food conservation and storage, development of farmers' organizations and strengthening links with markets.

Job Description

PRO-Cashew Project

CNFA is implementing the PRO-Cashew project funded by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for a period of five years. The PRO-Cashew project will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of West African producers by improving the efficiency and quality of production and trade, and by developing more coherent regional trade and investment policies.

In doing so, the project will build producer capacity and develop incentives to renovate and rehabilitate cashew farms, improve production and quality, and create a more competitive West African raw cashew nut for the international market.

CNFA is currently looking for candidates for the following post: A Driver - Courier

Under the supervision of the Accountant and Administration Officer, the driver’s mission is to:

  • Drive the official vehicle assigned to him
  • Ensure the good condition of the vehicle entrusted to him

Driving the official vehicle assigned to him:

  • Drive safely, carefully and respect traffic rules (Highway Code).
  • Check that the vehicle and related parts are up to date and comply with the legislation in force in the country and notify the Data Controller if necessary.
  • Carry out the project races, collect and distribute mail or any other document as well as certain administrative procedures if necessary.
  • Ensure the travel of Office staff as part of official outings.
  • Welcome staff and official visitors to the airport and facilitate immigration, police and customs formalities if necessary.
  • Ensure that all the formalities provided for by the regulations are completed in the event of an accident.
  • Record official travel, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil checks, lubrication, etc., in the vehicle tracking sheet.
  • Keep vehicle tracking sheets up to date and have them stamped by your supervisor.

Ensure that the vehicle entrusted to it is kept in good condition:

  • Keep the vehicle clean - exterior and interior - in all circumstances.
  • Ensure the daily maintenance of the vehicle in his charge, control oil, water, battery, brakes, tires etc.
  • Notify your supervisor of periodic overhaul and maintenance situations.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Hold a valid B, C, D driving license
  • Have at least the secondary level

Experiences

  • Professional experience of at least 8 years as a driver, of which at least 5 preferably in an international organization.

Skills

  • Know the road network of Ghana
  • Be courteous and discreet
  • Ability to work under the constraints of deadlines and results by demonstrating initiative, dynamism, and pro-activity.
  • Know how to fill in the vehicle tracking sheets or logbook
  • Have a good notion in mechanics
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Be able to make frequent trips within the country.
