Job Description
MSI Ghana has vacancies for passion driven, well-organised, client-oriented and energetic individuals with the below relevant qualification/s and experience in Accra. MSI Ghana’s goal is to meet the needs of the underserved and improve access to the use of Family Planning (FP) and other Sexual Reproductive Health (SRH) services. The Diagnostic Sonographer will be responsible for providing high quality core MSIG lab services in the assigned centre of excellence. The duties and responsibilities presented below may change as centre activities evolve and expand with time

Key Responsibilities
Partnership and Network Building
- Encourage a commitment to accommodating clients' special needs such as flexibility on working hours, strict privacy and confidentiality to generate demand for MSIG services.
- Have a public relations and promotional role with colleagues
- Timely collate and submit incidence reports to the Centre Manager
- Monitor monthly ultrasound results and in collaboration with the Centre Manager and make appropriate recommendations to meet set targets
Diagnostic Sonographer Duties
- Operate with proficiency the ultrasound equipment to perform basic ultrasounds (2D and doppler) of obstetric and gynecological, abdominal ultrasound and other indications (e.g., breast US)
- Prepare patients for exams by informing them and obtaining informed consent
- At all times ensure the comfort, safety and privacy of the patients
- Determine the best images to include in the patient’s report, noting differences between pathological and healthy areas
- Keep an adequate stock management and record keeping of consumables (e.g., US gel)
- Keep an adequate maintenance of the Ultrasound equipment, troubleshoot and resolve equipment malfunctions and/or order repairs as necessary
- Maintain record, prepare and submit periodic reports to his/her immediate supervisor
- Interact with government agencies, professional groups, and MSI staff to ensure the centre is in compliance with National and MSI Standards
- Follow safety policies that are applicable to the job, recognize potential issues and institute measures to prevent complications
- Perform ethical and legal duties, such as obtaining written consent, preparing incident reports or reporting signs of neglect/abuse
- Follow MSI infection prevention measures
- Maintain cleanliness and order of workstations, rooms and equipment
- Follow MSI rules to protect patients’ confidentiality and privacy
- Promote and maintain a welcoming, friendly, professional and efficient atmosphere towards all clients in the centre to ensure client satisfaction at all times
Communication and Administration
- Keep and manage records of all ultrasound activities
- Ensure formal communications with the various health partners are properly documented
- Make proper use of available information systems in MSI to facilitate service delivery & trainings
- Manage and properly account for all MSIG resources and properties in the scan centre

Required Skills or Experience
To succeed in this role, you must have:
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- Must have a recognized clinical qualification in Diagnostic Sonography
- Must be registered with a recognized qualification local clinical professional body in Ghana and in good standing
- Must have requisite experience to work with minimum supervision
- At least 3 years post-graduation experience in a sonography position
- Excellent provider client interactions skills
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
- Work experience with Ghana Health Service and /or an INGO
- Articulate and analytical with attention to details
- Knowledge of health delivery systems in Ghana
- Sympathetic to women and men seeking Family Planning and Reproductive Health services
- Be able to work on own initiative and at longer periods.
- Customer focused with good interpersonal skills to engage with people at all levels –government, donor and community
- Passionate about maternal health
- Team player, self motivator and able to motivate others to achieve results.
