Job Description

WASCAL invites applications for the position of IT Officer

Job Summary

  • Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers, workstations, and other network devices.
  • Perform system administration tasks, including user management, security configuration, and system monitoring.
  • Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows infrastructure services.
  • Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system resources to ensure optimal performance.
  • Implement and manage system backups, disaster recovery plans, and security measures to protect data and systems.
  • Respond to and resolve user support requests related to Windows systems, applications, and network connectivity.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs and maintenance.
  • Stay up to date with the latest Windows updates, patches, and security vulnerabilities, and apply them as necessary.
  • Strong collaboration with the Data Management Department for a common and harmonized management of the organization’s IT resources.
  • Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to plan and implement system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Any other tasks that may be assigned.

Required Skills or Experience

  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Master’s degree will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a system administrator or IT officer in a Windows environment.
  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (such as Windows Server 2016/2019) and Windows client operating systems (such as Windows 10).
  • Good knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu operating systems will be an advantage.
  • Good knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) for website development, configuration, maintenance and support.
  • Proficiency in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows infrastructure services.
  • Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox) 
  • Experience with backup and recovery solutions, antivirus software, and system monitoring tools.
  • Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, security measures, and troubleshooting.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with users and collaborate with team members.
