Job Description
WASCAL invites applications for the position of IT Officer.
Job Summary
- Install, configure, and maintain Windows servers, workstations, and other network devices.
- Perform system administration tasks, including user management, security configuration, and system monitoring.
- Administer and troubleshoot Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows infrastructure services.
- Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and optimize system resources to ensure optimal performance.
- Implement and manage system backups, disaster recovery plans, and security measures to protect data and systems.
- Respond to and resolve user support requests related to Windows systems, applications, and network connectivity.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, and coordinate with vendors for equipment repairs and maintenance.
- Stay up to date with the latest Windows updates, patches, and security vulnerabilities, and apply them as necessary.
- Strong collaboration with the Data Management Department for a common and harmonized management of the organization’s IT resources.
- Collaborate with other teams and stakeholders to plan and implement system upgrades, migrations, and new deployments.
- Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for reference and knowledge sharing.
- Any other tasks that may be assigned.

Required Skills or Experience
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Master’s degree will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a system administrator or IT officer in a Windows environment.
- Strong knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (such as Windows Server 2016/2019) and Windows client operating systems (such as Windows 10).
- Good knowledge of Linux/Ubuntu operating systems will be an advantage.
- Good knowledge of Content Management Systems (CMS) for website development, configuration, maintenance and support.
- Proficiency in managing Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, and other core Windows infrastructure services.
- Familiarity with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V, VirtualBox)
- Experience with backup and recovery solutions, antivirus software, and system monitoring tools.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, protocols, security measures, and troubleshooting.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with users and collaborate with team members.
