Miro Forestry Ghana Limited is a sustainable forestry plantation developer and manufacturer of timber products. The company has its offices located at Drobonso, sekyere Afram Plains District in the Ashanti Region of Ghana, with plantations near Agogo and Mampong.
We are currently seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Officer
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and develop an occupational health & safety management plan (OHSMP)
- Actively work towards the company's achievement of FSC certification
- Health and safety management system
- Incident, accident and near Miss Management
- Road safety management
- Actively work toward the company's full compliance with the international labour organisation (ILO) guidelines
- Engage regularly with relevant stakeholders and train employees on OHS issues
- Management and leadership

Qualification Required & Experience
- A degree in environmental science, forestry management, safety management or a related field. A Master's Degree would be an added advantage
- A minimum of 3 years post qualification work experience in a similar role and industry
Experience
- A minimum of 3 years post qualification work experience in a similar role and industry
Personal qualities and competencies
- The position requires a dynamic and responsible individual with a strong interest in international health and safety standards
- The individual must be self-motivated and team-oriented, able to work independently and committed to responsible forest stewardship
- Knowledge of the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), as well as international finance cooperation (IFC-Guidance Note/Performance Standard and all enactments relating to best OHS management practices
- Good communication skills in English and Twi
- Proficiency with MS Office is absolutely essential
- Experience with project planning software would be an added advantage
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, both oral and written communications, sound presentation, analytical and computer skills
