Job Purpose
Provide support for the power plant with the required technical leadership and hands on industrial control systems such as Distributed Control System (DCS), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), Human Machine Interface, network switches, industrial control computing system and associated instrumentation expertise
Key Activities
- Work safely by complying with TICO health and safety policy and procedures and demonstrate good safety awareness by reporting safety observations and near misses.
- Provide technical expertise and leadership in control system engineering, design, implementation, programming/configuration, commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting in support of power plant controls and Industrial Control Systems (e.g., Distributed Control Systems “DCS”, Programmable Logic Controller systems “PLC”), along with associated control system devices, computers, communications, networks, and instrumentation.
- Provide technical expertise in consultation, evaluation, recommendations, and development/review of specifications, work scopes, bids, test procedures, alarm response procedures, commissioning plans, and vendor reports.
- Provide support and leadership to meet Ghana and International regulatory and cyber security requirements as well as other regulatory, compliance and cyber security requirements, projects, initiatives, and activities relative to controls and controls systems.
- Perform multiple responsibilities of controls engineering support in parallel with project involvements and oversee vendor/contractor support when needed.

- Supervision and technical direction of Instrumentation and Control craft labour and technicians performing installation of turbine controls and related interface devices
- Investigate technologies that will improve plant operation and performance (e.g., heat rate and environmental) and technologies that will assist with control system maintenance and analysis.
- Provide support for power generation and auxiliary power systems, particularly related to digital devices or systems with communications interface to control systems (e.g., protective relays for electrical power systems).
- Perform due diligence for plant support and evaluation of control system and instrumentation specifications for projects and ongoing maintenance scopes
- Provide power plant support for both planned and unplanned activities and outages, for control and instrumentation devices. The Control Systems may include (but not limited to): Emerson, GE, ABB, Allen-Bradley, Siemens

Qualification Required & Experience
- BSc. Electrical and Electronic Engineering (Control Systems Option) with minimum 10 years combined cycle power plant control system experience or BSc Computer science or Engineering with 10 years combined cycle power plant control system experience
- Member and professional Engineer (PE) registration with Ghana Institute of Engineers, Experience with industrial control systems such as Distributed Control systems (DCS) and/or Programmanle Logic Controller (PLC) systems (DCS) and/or associated control system devices, computers, communications and networks. 8 years minimum experience
Experience / Skills / Knowledge
- Experience with industrial control systems such as Distributed control systems (DCS) and/or Programmable Logic controller (PLC) systems and associated control system devices, computers, communications and networks(8 years minimum experience)
- Demonstrated hands-on experience with power generation industrial control systems and skills in the use of advanced control techniques
- In-depth knowledge of industry advanced in control system monitoring, testing and analysis of control equipment and controls theory
- Knowledge and experience of power plant controls, steam turbine control systems, combustion turbine control systems, balance of plant control systems
- Knowledge and experience in electrical and electronics theory
- Good knowledge of GE control system turbine controllers such as Mark vie.
- Strong technical leadership skills and strong verbal/written communication skills
- Computer-packaged software skills
