The West Africa Civil Society Institute (WACSI) was established to build the institutional and operational capacity of civil society in West Africa, through knowledge management, capacity development and policy influencing. WACSI seeks a committed, motivated and dynamic person to join its team in contributing to enhancing civil society’s efficiency and effectiveness in West Africa.
Job Description
Knowledge Production
- Conduct and support background research and analysis on topical issues;
- Contribute to and compile the monthly Civil Society Situation Report (SITREP) and provide a bi-annual analysis on trends of civil society participation in West Africa;

- Contribute to facilitate compilation, review and finalisation of the quarterly WACSeries publications;
- Contribute weekly updates on the state of civic space in six West African countries for the Civic Space Monitor (CSM);
- Support editing and review of manuscripts in English and French for publication;
Knowledge Dissemination
- Assist with the regular dissemination of knowledge products on identified platform
- Send regular newsletters and information of WACSeries publications
- Assist with the management and engagement of the Community of Practice on Civil Society in West Africa;
- Contribute to facilitate compilation, review and finalisation of the quarterly WACSeries publications;
- Assist with the preparation and administration of relevant WACSI programmes and report writing;

Other responsibilities
- Support in the implementation of research projects;
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
- Develop concept notes and budget on specific projects;
- Attend and represent WACSI at meetings with partner organisations;
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications
- Hold a bachelor’s degree in any social science and/or policy or related field. Master’s degree preferred;
- Capacity to think creatively and work collaboratively in a multicultural environment;
- Strong speaking and writing abilities in English and French highly preferred;
- Strong computer skills including a high level of comfort with Microsoft Office
- Knowledge in website management is an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently as well as part of a team
- Proven ability to manage diverse, time-sensitive and complex tasks;
- Robust analytical, research and writing skills;
- Commitment to WACSI’s vision, mission, and strategic goals.
