The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) Jordan Country Office in Amman seeks a dedicated, experienced, highly motivated and proactive candidates for Information Management Officer, at NOA level. Under the supervision of the Information Management Specialist , the IM Officer will work with the Social protection team and with the support of the Adolescent and Youth team to support the future development and fine tuning of the Bayanati system to support a standardized approach of data collection, processing and analysis to other program areas and respond to emerging needs and priorities.

Database and information system design and development

    • Provide assistance in reviewing current available information systems, and present ideas for system improvements.
    • Provide assistance in producing system specification as well assisting in design development, and integration process of information systems in close coordination and collaboration with relevant UNICEF IM, M&E and program staff, UNICEF Partners taff, and field staff.
    • Provide assistance in developing, testing and maintaining modules and new features of the UNICEF Information Management Systems including Bayanati, and other key UNICEF Information Management Systems.
    • Consolidate data from different data sources by harmonizing data labels, flagging out outliers and cleaning data.

 

Information Management

    • In coordination with key IM, M&E, program staff, national counterparts as well as UNICEF partners and implementing partners, support assessments of existing data and information collection exercises; identify gaps and barriers in access to data and data management;
    • Ensure timely data collection from different sources including UNICEFs and its partners Information Management Systems when applicable and as per program requirements. Examples of UNICEF supported Information Management Systems: Bayanati, Activity Info, EMS and other assessment tools.
    • Ensure quality of collected and reported data, by setting and implementing regular quality checks for validation, consistency and reliability of data and information.
    • Support data analysis of available datasets, and produce regular statistical reports, visualizations, and maps necessary to facilitate service delivery, performance monitoring, and decision making.
    • Support with the ‘move’ of Engagement Monitoring System (EMS) from the Regional Office to the Country Office

 

Capacity building and technical support

    • Assess information management capacity of UNICEF and UNICEF implementing partners in the field, identify and communicate gaps to relevant IM and program staff.
    • Provide technical support and guidance to UNICEF and UNICEF implementing partners staff in the field, to collect, process and manage data. This includes responding to user ad-hoc inquiries.
    • Develop tools, guidelines, SOP’s, documentations and other learning materials, and provide trainings to UNICEF and UNICEF implementing partners’ data collection/data management Staff. M&E staff, and front-line staff to timely collect data with high quality, and to effectively used it to support daily operations, program monitoring and reporting.
    • Perform field visits to provide information management support, system technical support, and user support to UNICEFs Implementing Partners and UNICEF-supported centres.
    • Provide other related responsibilities required by the supervisor.

To qualify as an advocate for every child you will have…

    • Education: A first university degree in IT, computer science, CIS, MIS, Software engineering, or another relevant technical field.
    • Experience: A minimum of one year of professional experience in information management with the UN or other humanitarian organization, this includes experience in designing and administrating relational databases, data analysis, and data visualization is needed. Experience in social protection program monitoring and evaluation is considered an asset. Experience in social protection programming in middle-income settings with protracted crises strongly preferred.
    • Language: Fluency in English and Arabic is required.
