Pure Earth (www.pureearth.org) is the leading international not-for-profit dedicated to reducing pollution and saving lives all over the world. Pollution is the leading cause of death in the world, more than HIV, AIDS and TB combined. Pure Earth identifies and cleans up severely polluted places in low and middle-income countries, focusing on sites where human health, especially that of women and children, is most at risk.
PROJECT SUMMARY
The Clarios Foundation has partnered with Pure Earth and UNICEF to form the “Protecting Every Child’s Potential” initiative. The goal of the project is to prevent children’s exposure to lead from substandard lead acid battery smelting and from other products, reduce lead exposures in 5 countries (Mexico, Ghana, Georgia, Bangladesh, and Indonesia), and a global advocacy and awareness-raising activities.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Accounting and Administrative Coordinator will be responsible for the following:
Accounting
- • Summarize current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports
- • Verify, allocate, post and reconcile transactions
- • Analyze financial information and summarize financial status
- • Prepare financial statements and produce budget according to schedule
- • Calculate PAYE, withholding tax and SSNIT contributions
- • Prepare books for audit
- • Comply with all company, local, state, and federal accounting and financial regulations
- • Manage payroll systems
- • Calculate staff benefits
- • Manage expenses and expense reports
Administrative
- • Assist with procurement of items needed for daily operations
- • Create and distribute guidelines about company policies
- • Maintain employee files
- • Keep track of employee vacation and sick leave
- • Take minutes at staff meetings
- • Respond to inquiries from visitors to the office
- • Assist with the daily running of the office, including filing, receiving letters, and answering the phone
Qualification Required & Experience
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- • A first level university degree in combination with qualifying experience is required
- • Fluency in English is required. Fluency in other local languages is a plus
- • Minimum 3 – 5 years of relevant work experience in the field of accounting and administration
- • Strong written and verbal communications skills
- • Good knowledge of basic accounting procedures and principles
- • Experience with creating financial statements
- • Experience with general ledger functions and the month-end/year-end close process
- • Aptitude for numbers and quantitative skills
- • Intermediate understanding of accounting and reporting standards
- • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
