Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements
Job Purpose
Conduct a regular quality control of compost and fermentation product amendment as well as stabilized MBT output been carried out in accordance to the International standard. Organize and supervise the overall quality enhancement and effective application of compost and co-compost on farm/field products.
- Reports to: Research & Quality Assurance Manager
- Location: Kumasi
Key responsibilities
- Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing, and evaluation of the organic compost for improved performance.
- Assists the Quality Assurance and Research Manager in developing and maintaining the ISO9001 procedures and work instructions for standard compost quality.
- Provide regular audit report on product quality to the line Manager for product improvement.
- Resolve product quality issues by identifying problems, examining solution options, implementing action plans, and providing results.

- Reviews reports and confers with quality assurance, production and management to solve work-related problems.
- Conduct environmental impact assessment of operations and provide mitigation measures
- Ensure safe operations and conduct safety training to various operations activities
- Conduct and supervise analytical and microbiological laboratory analysis on compost quality
- Conduct research on general municipal solid waste, odor and leachate waste management issues
- Coordinate with the production unit to optimize production
- Ensure quality of end stage quality of recyclables.
- Supervise facility-based research work together with partner universities and agencies.

Required Skills or ExperienceEducation
- BSc. in Laboratory Technology, Agricultural Science, Chemical Engineering, Food Science or any related field and MSc will be an added advantage.
- Must be a member of professional association.

Experience
- A minimum of 7 years’ experience preferably in a manufacturing or processing
- MSc. holder will with 5 years working experience in related industry.
- Experience with compost management is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft office
Technical:
- Ability to collect sample, conduct statistical analysis of data related to conform to quality assurance programs.
- Ability to conduct basic field tests according to specified procedures and operate equipment safely and efficiently
- Ability to operate and maintain advanced analytical equipment and instrumentation.
- Knowledge and ability in the use of a personal computer and software applications (e.g. Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
Managerial:
- Ability to plan, coordinate and follow up to monitor people and work activities
- Ability to design and implement control systems and take corrective action to correct deviations.
Personality:
- Must be highly organized, have strong work ethic, possess good decision-making skills, extremely detail oriented and have excellent time management skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all manner of people
- Ability to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
- Goal-oriented, organized team player
