Tamale Teaching Hospital is an agency of the Ministry of Health, mandated to provide tertiary health care services, serves as teaching facility for the school of Medicine and Health Sciences of the University for Development Studies and to undertake relevant research for health development. The Board of the hospital is seeking for qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position: Director of Finance
Job Purpose
Responsible for planning, directing and controlling financial resources and maintaining standards through monitoring, teaching, research, policy development and implementation within the hospital
Functions
- Provide financial advice to the Chief Executive
- Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that are appropriate for the users and in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

- Maintain a system of quality assurance within the Directorate to ensure that staff are adequately supervised and that work in adequately planned, coordinated, carried out and reviewed in accordance with established procedure
- Develop strategies to increase revenue collection and minimize financial losses
- Manage and motivate finance staff
- Undertake any other responsibility assigned by the Chief Executive
Qualification Required & Experience
The person must be a Professional Accountant and have the following:
- Postgraduate qualification in accounting or relevant professional qualification (ICA, ACCA and CPA)
- A minimum of 10 years work experience, 5 of which should be at the senior management level
- The person should be at least at the grade of Deputy Chief at the time of application
- Evidence of leadership and continuing professional development and training in audit/accounting/finance
- A broad knowledge base of financial rules and regulations particularly with regards to the health sector.
- Evidence of leadership and continuing professional development and training in health management
- Knowledge in coordinating and implementing research and development programmes
