We are looking for a dynamic Head of Talent to join our high-performing team in the Accra head office, focusing on building and maintaining our talent pool of freelance consultants to carry out missions all through the year. The role is also responsible for the professional development of talents, to ensure that we maintain the highest standards of service in the firm’s pool. This role is not a classic HR role – as the Head of Talent, you will be in charge of building one of the largest networks of top freelancers in Africa. You are ideally familiar with the field of consulting services and know what it takes to make flexible work a success on the continent.
Key Responsibilities
Freelancer community building
- Build and roll out team- and culture development initiatives that can be adopted by on-ground and remote teams in AFG
- Organize local and regional events for consultants that work with AFG

- Introduce consultants to the AFG technology platform and collaborate with product manager of platform to make changes as demanded
- Put together incentive and loyalty programs for consultants to engage within the AFG community on a daily basis
- Supervise recruiting and staffing operations conducted by other team members
- Conduct interviews with new candidates at times
Performance management
- Supervise the completion of performance surveys by staffed consultants
- Compile performance profiles of talent pool members and share with respective staff for feedback and promotions discussion
- Track and process requests for promotions by consultants
- Oversee the review and approval of rates for different levels of Consultants
Learning and professional development
- Develop training journeys for talent pool members based on role and tenure
- Lead training implementation plan – liaise with Knowledge Development and external partners
- Supervise development of online learning system in collaboration with technology team of AFG
Key performance Indicators
- Utilisation of freelancers in the pool
- Performance level of consultants on missions
- Structure of talent pool (e.g. ration of analysts versus project managers)

Job requirements
- 3-5 years’ experience in talent-management related role, ideally in a consulting firm
- Strong interpersonal skills – you are a “people person” who people enjoy chatting and opening up to
- Strong written communication and presentation skills
- Highly analytical and comfortable with data management
- Excellent time management skills
- Creative, flexible and entrepreneurial mindset with the willingness to shape ideas/projects
- Critical thinking, problem-solving and goal-oriented
