Takoradi Technical University invites applications from suitable qualified candidates for appointment as Webmaster, Software  Engineer and Network Engineer in the following Faculties.

Webmaster

Job Summary

  • Webmaster will manage web pages, sites and applications He will coordinate the design, development, deployment and maintenance of the University’s online presence.
  • He will be responsible for web developers and graphic artists and oversee all aspects of creating a website. He will be responsible for maintaining websites.
  • Ensure sites are functioning properly and are available to users.
  • Tests speed of access and improves upon loading speed.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure the web servers, hardware and software are operating accurately.
  • Design websites.
  • Generate and revise web pages.
  • Examine and analyze site traffic.
  • Utilize scripting languages such as JavaScript.
  • Configure web servers such as Apache.
  • Serve as the server administrator
  • Regulate and manage access rights of different users on website.
  • Create and modify appearance and setting of site.
  • Lay out content on web pages.
  • Deal with and respond to heavy volumes of email.
  • Decide what kind of computer will hold a web site’s information.
  • Test websites to see if there are any parts that are difficult to use.
  • Meet with designers to agree on site’s design.
  • Fix link that don’t work and pictures that aren’t appearing properly.
  • Decide how site’s content will be delivered to the internet
  • Keep files small so sites load faster
  • Test different browsers and ensure staff and students with different computers can access a website.

Qualification Required & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science
  • M.Phil. in Computer Science
  • Technical skills and experience in computer programming languages, operating systems and internet applications such as HTML and XML.

 

Software  Engineer

 

Job Summary

The Software Engineer will develop information systems by designing, developing and installing software solutions.

Determines operational feasibility by evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirement, solution development and proposed solutions


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Improving system quality by identifying issues and common patterns, and developing standard operating procedures.
  • Enhancing applications by identifying opportunities for improvement, making recommendations and designing and implementing systems
  • Maintaining and improving existing codebases and peer review code changes
  • Liaising with colleagues to implement technical designs
  • Investigating and using new technologies where relevant
  • Providing written knowledge transfer material

Qualification Required & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, programming, mathematics, or related field
  • Master of variety of programming languages, such as C++, C#, JavaScript and Python and practice building software

 

Network Engineer

 

Job Summary

Network engineer will be responsible for building and maintaining the day-to-day operation of computer networks that the University relies on.
These networks typically include an intranet, extranet, local area network (LAN), and wide area network (WAN).

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Monitoring network engineering performance and ensure system availability and reliability
  • Configuring and installing various network devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, local balancers, VPN, QoS)
  • Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environment including systems software applications software, hardware and configurations
  • Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required
  • Protecting data, software and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures.
  • Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software and other network and system problems.
  • Replacing faulty network hardware components when required
  • Maintaining, configuring and monitoring virus protection software and email applications
  • Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.
  • Conferring with network users about solving existing system problem.
  • Operating master consoles to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.
  • Coordinating computer network access and use
  • Designing, configuring and testing networking software, computer hardware and operating system software.

Qualification Required & Experience

  • Bachelor degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus.
  • Possess M.Phil. in Information Technology
  • Certificate in CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) and CCNP (CISCO Certified Network Professional).
  • Have a minimum of three (3) years post qualification experience in the IT industry
  • Knowledge of application, transport and network infrastructure protocols.
