Job Description: Responsibilities & Requirements
Chirano is located in southwestern Ghana, approximately 100 kilometres southwest of Kumasi, Ghana’s second largest city. The mine is within the Bibiani gold belt and consists of 11 deposits. Open pit and underground ore are processed at the Chirano plant. The capacity of the mill is approximately 3.5 million tonnes per annum. Processing involves crushing, ball mill grinding, leaching, and CIL.
Job Responsibilities
- Act as a Secretary to the Chirano Sefwiman Foundation (CSF) Board reporting to the Board of Trustees of the Foundation
- Run the secretariat and supervise the work of the Technical Committee of the Foundation
- Prepare the annual budget and workplan for the Board’s approval
- Will Supervise the preparation of reports by the committees and prepare the financial records to the Board and other statutory bodies
- Implement Board decisions and manage the functions, activities and programmes of the Foundation
- Initiate fund raising activities as directed by the Board
- Call Board of Trustees meetings with prior approval of the Board Chairman
- Call Technical Committee meetings, act as chairperson of the Technical Committee, and supervise activities of the Technical Committee
- Submit project proposals and recommendations of the Technical committee for the Board’s evaluation and approval
- Collect material on projects and programmes to be reviewed by the Technical Committee

- Assist the Community Development Committee(CDC) to prepare project proposals for the Technical Committee’s attention
- With the approval of the Board, promote partnership with other institutions and programmes to leverage resources to help realise the objectives of the Foundation
- In cooperation with C DC follow up on projects and programmes financed by the Foundation;
- Manage the property and all assets of the Foundation as advised
- Represent the Foundation in institutions and organisations in Ghana and abroad, with prior approval of the Board
- Be liable for use and misuse of the Foundation’s assets and other resources.
Education and Experience
- Must possess, a bachelor’s degree in Development Studies, Development Planning, Sociology, Economics or related field of study. A Masters Degree in Development Studies could be an added advantage.
- At least seven (7) years post qualification experience working on or supervising community development projects in Ghana with 3 years exposure in managerial role is a requirement. Mining Community experience would be an added advantage.
- Knowledge of Town and Country Planning and Project Management is added advantage.
- High communication and community relations skills required to allow effective interaction and engagement with all groups within the society.
- Must possess strong interpersonal skills, be a team player and be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Must have ability to work co-operatively and constructively with a wide range of people, including colleagues, other professionals, interest groups and the public.
- Must be Computer proficient. (I.e. in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Visio etc.).
- Must be fluent in Twi and English and have a good understanding of local culture. Ability to speak Sefwi would be an added advantage.
- High degree of flexibility, diplomacy, respect for confidentiality and strong work ethic
- Must hold a valid Ghanaian driving license B or C with defensive driving skills
