We, are seeking an experienced UAV instructor to train/coach on-site security personnel of a mine in Ghana on the use of their long-endurance hybrid-powered (gas/battery) VTOL Quadplane. The UAV is intended for day/night perimeter surveillance missions and fitted with an EO/IR gimbal. Mission are intended to be operated from a control room environment. The UAV is integral to providing mine security personnel with information about intruders and potential risk/hazard areas.
The trainees have experience with DJI Quadcopters and received theoretical and practical training on the operation of their new VTOL UAV. Now they require operational flight training to enhance their confidence for long-term utilization of their platform and assistance with the final integration from the testing area into the control room. The entire solution is already on-site.
OUTCOMES OF THE TRAINING (TRAINEE COMPETENCE AFTER COMPLETION OF TRAINING):
The trainees are required to supervise and operate the VTOL UAV, including mission planning (Mission Planner), mission sensor/payload operations, launching, remotely piloting, and recovering the aerial vehicle.

The trainees need to prepare, conduct air surveillance missions, operates mission sensor/payload for target detection and tracking. Plans and analyses flight missions. Deploys and redeploys the UAV ground and air system. Uses security communication equipment to relay information to control room. Performs routine inspections and system maintenance on all the equipment. Launches and recovers the air vehicle; performs pre-flight, in flight and post-flight checks and procedures. Also directs emplacement of ground control station, directs emplacement of launch and recovery systems. Supervises and assists in air frame repair and coordinates evacuation and replacement of parts and end items.
UAV INSTRUCTOR REQUIREMENTS:
- Holds a valid Remote Pilot License (RPL) with instructors rating;
- Extensive RC flying experience (Airplanes and Quadcopters);
- Experience flying VTOL Quadplanes;
- Experience on different UAV autopilots (Pixhawk, DronePix…);
- Experience with ArduPlane;
- Experience with Mission Planner;
- Past surveillance drone operations desirable;
- Sound Technical aptitude (electronics, mechanical and good computer skills);
- Certificate or associated degree preferred;
- Strong problem solving capability;
- Multitasking capability;
- Excellent, technical English proficiency;
- Previous tactical background preferred;
- Colour vision required;
- Good mental and physical fitness;
- Hand-on;
- No record of conviction by court;
